Petrochemicals Research and Innovation Commendation 2024

To felicitate meritorious innovations and inventions in the field of petrochemicals, products, processes and other related areas. The Scheme seeks to improve research and development in the petrochemical sector, leading to more efficient energy consumption, plastic waste management, and development of new products. The Scheme is also intended to enhance innovative capacities to a level of international recognition and to help make the domestic industry globally competitive.

Eligibility

1. The scheme is open to all Indian citizens/institutions/industries/ organisations/ Start-up registered in India or created by the Central/ State governments/ Union Territories.

2. In case of a team or group, the maximum number of the applicants in a team/group in any particular Application should not be more than five.

3. The innovation should either be an original product, process or an improvement on existing product or process so as to increase utility of the product or process by enhancing consumer advantages, accuracy, reliability, safety, product life, versatility, etc. Mere theoretical hypothesis, innovation simply in the idea stage and perpetual motion machines are not eligible for consideration of an award.

4. The innovation should be not older than three years, at the time of submitting the application.

5. Awardees of previous editions of the National Petrochemicals Awards will be deemed ineligible to participate in the Commendation Scheme for the next three editions/years.

The Commendation shall carry a citation and a memento for each category.

Applicant has to apply online for the commendation for Individual/Team/ Industry.

Selection Process

1. The entry applications for Commendations will be screened and evaluated by the Screening Committee. The Screening Committee will be headed by Joint Secretary (Petrochemicals) with DG/Director of the implementing agency as Member Secretary. The Screening Committee will have representation from National Level Academic Institutions / Research Laboratories, National Level Industry Associations, Expert Committee and representatives from Government of India and the members will be nominated by the Department.

2. Evaluations report of the Screening Committee will be placed before the Commendation Approval Committee (CAC), which would be chaired by Secretary (Chemicals & Petrochemicals). The members of this Committee will be experts from Industry & Academia working in the petrochemicals and allied sectors. The names recommended by Screening Committee may be asked to present their innovation/project etc. before the Commendation Approval Committee. The CAC would then submit its recommendations on recipients for final approval of Minister (Chemicals & Fertilizers).

3. The Scheme will be implemented by the Department in coordination with the PSU or Autonomous Bodies of the Department.

Ceremony Details

The Commendation shall be presented at New Delhi.

TA/DA will be provided to awardees for attending the function.
